AMOSSHE Annual Conference 2012- "Greater Expectations", 11-13 July, Bristol
In the last twelve months, we have heard declarations about the student market, and consumerism in higher education, witnessed another student fee regime change and drafted and submitted Widening Participation and access proposals. There has been extensive debate about meeting the challenges posed by the changing landscape of the HE sector. AMOSSHE members have not only contributed to those discussions but led many. Talk is of great expectations.
AMOSSHE members are often uniquely close to both the issues that affect our students and our institutions. Student Services teams across the UK are already and will continue to be crucial in delivering on expectations about the experience in HE communities. To what extent will those expectations of us be ‘Greater’ and in what ways?
‘Greater expectations’ asks:
• How can we deliver on service level promises and support?
• How do we keep focused on meeting needs as well as expectations?
• How can we really make a difference to the student experience?
• How are we relevant to all students conscious of paying fees?
• How can we deliver and demonstrate value for money?
• What does high quality and value look like?
• How do we equip our departments?
• What do Vice Chancellors want from us?
• What skills do you need?
Confirmed speakers include:
- Professor Malcolm Gillies, Vice Chancellor, London Metropolitan University
- Bill Rammell, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Plymouth
