UNIPOL: Further Skills for Housing Managers (London)
This is two day interactive seminar takes place in central London on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 July 2008 and provides an opportunity for those involved and experienced in the running and development of student housing management to examine recent developments and share good practice.
Trialled in December, the agenda has been updated and includes a number of issues of growing importance within the student management process. The first day takes a number of specific themes in the student accommodation lifecycle and three leaders from three different institutions will give short 5-10 minute presentations on individual aspects of each topic:
- Allocations and Marketing
- The Perfect Induction
- Effective Information delivery to Tenants
- Regular Property Inspections
- Levels of Tenant Intervention
Delegates will then be encouraged to contribute either their own ideas or discuss those raised. This format should make for a fast and effective "brainstorming" on these issues that have been identified from previous delegate feedback as being issues of growing importance in the management process.
The second day looks at a number of specific topics that are prevalent within student accommodation management and explores these in a more traditional way with a short presentation followed by delegate discussion:
- The Use of Social Networking Sites in Housing Management
- Dealing with Deposits and Damage
- Working in Partnership with Others
- Using and Interpreting Research - are Comparative Measures of Any Use?
This two day event should provide an exciting and open environment that will give delegates an opportunity to think aloud about aspects of their, and others, services and service outputs. The format should make for lively, informed and structured discussion and as such places are limited to 25 delegate places to ensure the full participation of those involved. Please note that although this is a two day event, residential places are not available.
