SKILL: Mission Possible: Improving Disabled Student Retention in HE
Skill is holding it's annual higher education conference on Monday 1 - Tuesday 2 December in The Nottingham Belfry, Nottingham.
Aims and objectives
This year’s event is aimed at all staff who plan and deliver services for disabled students – including senior managers, heads of student support services, disability officers and departmental disability contacts.
The conference will update delegates on the main issues in the sector and how these impact on disabled student retention, including HEFCE’s review of its guidance and policy in relation to support provided to disabled students, and how the new centralised financial support service is working for disabled students.
Speakers and workshops
Speakers will include:
- Sarah Howls (Policy Officer at HEFCE)
- Derek Ross (Deputy CEO at the Student Loans Company (SLC)
- John Storan (Co-Director of Action on Access and Professor of Widening Participation)
Workshops and briefings will cover a diverse range of topics relevant to staff in higher education.
