Nations and Regions
AMOSSHE is divided into different Nations and regions by geography; with Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England.
Scotland
Almost all Scottish HEIs are members of AMOSSHE. Regular meetings of Scottish members are held, at which various topics of mutual interest are discussed, with opportunities also for informal networking. Members are often invited to contribute to Scottish policy debate, e.g. through the Scottish Executive and Universities Scotland.
If there is a Scottish member elected to the National Executive Committee, then this person will represent AMOSSHE (Scotland) at the UK level – at present, this role is carried out by Ailsa Ritchie from the University of St Andrews.
Wales
AMOSSHE Wales is an increasingly authoritative voice within the Welsh HE sector as we seek to influence the work and policy development of Higher Education Wales (HEW) and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG). Almost all Welsh HEIs are members of AMOSSHE. The Group is Co-ordinated by Lawrence Wilson, IRM at University of Wales, Newport. Regular meetings of Welsh members are held to discuss issues of mutual interest, share good practice and provide an opportunity for informal networking. AMOSSHE Wales is one of the first regions to organise regional training events to complement the networking and sharing of best practice.
If there is a Welsh member elected to the National Executive Committee, then this person will represent AMOSSHE Wales at the UK level – at present, this role is carried out by Dr. Gillian Jack from the University of Glamorgan and Ben Lewis from Cardiff University.
