AMOSSHE National Conference 2020Supporting estranged students: online discussion

This free interactive discussion is an opportunity to look ahead to the new academic year with estranged students in mind. Estranged students are those who have not been in local authority care, but have become estranged or are rejected by their family (often due to forced marriage, LGBTQI+ rejection, and divorce and remarriage). These students may also face other barriers to engagement and success in higher education, for example if they are also disabled, care-experienced, an international student.

Susan Mueller (Higher Education Director, Stand Alone) leads a structured discussion about the unique challenges these students face, and what we can do as Student Services leaders to support and engage them. Join us to brainstorm ideas around support for applicants, student finance, accommodation, induction, retention and ongoing support in the context of blended delivery, social distancing and the post-pandemic landscape of higher education.
