This session will be an opportunity for delegates to feed into the development of the Office for Students (OfS)' statement of expectations in relation to disability.

In February 2026, the OfS announced its intention to develop and publish a statement of expectations about disability for higher and further education providers in England. Suzanne Carrie, Head of Student Equality and Welfare, will start by delivering a presentation about the work that has led to this outcome. It'll include the advice of their Disability in higher education advisory panel, data analysis, and student and provider insight.

The presentation will be followed by a workshop for delegates to explore the themes and challenges that the Office for Students has identified in different contexts, and how they could be addressed by the regulator, setting out expectations for providers.

Head of Student Equality and Welfare, Office for Students

Suzanne is Head of Student Equality and Welfare at the Office for Students. She leads policy teams focused on access and participation and disability. She is a member of the Disabled Student Commitment Advisory Group and the UK Government Department for Education’s Higher education mental health implementation taskforce. She previously worked in the higher education sector leading the development and implementation of access and participation and student inclusion strategies.
