This session explores a partnership approach that actively involves students and postgraduate researchers with lived experience to inform and improve a whole-institutional approach to preventing and addressing harassment and misconduct. Grounded in trauma informed and co-creation principles, the session outlines how student feedback and insights are used to shape support pathways, policies and processes, educative opportunities and much more.
By embedding partnership working into a sensitive area of institutional practice, the session will explore how we can drive systemic improvement, strengthen accountability, and promote a more compassionate, survivor-centred approach.
Charlotte Webster Dalby is the Harassment and Misconduct Manager at the University of Leeds. She manages the Harassment and Misconduct team coordinating support for students and providing specialist advice. Charlotte is responsible for driving forward a whole-institutional approach to responding to and preventing harassment and misconduct through educative and engagement activities for the university community and contributing specialist knowledge to help develop institution policies.
Charlotte joined the University of Leeds in March 2022, moving here from another higher education institution where she offered information, advice and guidance to students in a 1-2-1 and group setting. As a trained Sexual Violence Liaison Officer, she has worked with survivors of sexual violence, domestic abuse and hate crimes since 2015, and previously led the Sexual Violence Liaison Officers service at Leeds Beckett University.
Charlotte is currently working towards her PhD and is passionate about considering the individual and specific needs of students at the University of Leeds through creating a non-judgemental and flexible service.
