Presentation
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of how the Student Engagement team (SET) at the University of Roehampton uses a data-driven approach to effectively identify, monitor, engage, and support students. Grounded in a four ‘P’ model: preventative, proactive, predictive, and personalised, the team ensures each student’s academic, personal, and social needs are recognised and addressed throughout their university experience. Delegates will explore how SET leverages lead indicators to set meaningful targets, track progress, and evaluate the impact of engagement initiatives. By harnessing real-time data, they can identify students with widening participation qualities early, which enables them to deliver tailored support from pre-arrival through to graduation. The approach has strengthened their ability to offer timely interventions, enhance student wellbeing, and improve overall success outcomes.
The session will guide delegates through the specific data sources they analyse, the metrics that matter, and the processes used to translate insights into impactful student support. Through practical examples and clear frameworks, participants will gain an understanding of how data can be operationalised to design initiatives that are both responsive and evidence-based, to create a more inclusive, supportive, and successful university environment.
