Submission review panel
The submission review panel decides on the contributions that'll be included in the upcoming edition of The Pivot. As the magazine for Student Services professionals, it's essential that the review panel comprises a diverse range of our members across the UK.
At the moment, only active named members can volunteer to join the submission review panel.
Below you can find more information about the commitment you'd take by agreeing to join the panel.
What does volunteering involve?
It includes reviewing proposals (between three to five submissions), sharing your perspective based on your knowledge of the sector, and attending a meeting with the Communications Officer.
How much time will I be expected to volunteer?
Joining the review panel involves contributing up to four hours each quarter to help pick the contributions that'll be included in the next edition of the magazine. The time commitment will vary depending on the length and number of proposals.You're also expected to meet the Communications Officer for a 30-minute meeting to provide your feedback. If you're unable to give feedback during a meeting, you can provide written feedback instead.
Will you provide guidance to help me review the submissions?
Yes. The team will provide you with an evaluation grid to help structure your feedback for each proposal.
How often will I be asked to volunteer?
You're expected to volunteer on a quarterly basis, in line with the magazine’s publication schedule.
What happens if I'm unable to volunteer in a particular quarter?
Your day-to-day responsibilities come first, and we know priorities can shift quickly. If you volunteer and later find yourself unable to meet the time commitment, just let us know. Ahead of each proposal submission deadline, the Communications Officer will contact you to confirm your availability. Before agreeing to volunteer, please assess your workload.
