Ensuring the success of commuter students symposium
Ensuring the success of commuter students symposium
This free collaborative event hosted by academics at Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Plymouth provides a forum for professionals so they can connect, share and innovate their support for commuter students. All delegates should be undertaking practical and/or policy-based work with commuters and must be willing to share this in a short 5-minute lightning talk, before taking part in group discussions. They welcome professionals whose work includes supporting commuter students through advice and guidance, representation and community, promoting extra-curricular activity and sustainability, and improving campus, digital, and access provision for commuter students.
These will be developed through writing groups to create a special issue of the journal Perspectives: Policy and Practice in Higher Education. The special issue will feature case study articles of 2500-3000 words, which reflect on interventions, surfacing best practice and considering the implications for others.
Places at the symposium are limited. If you’d like to take part in the symposium, please write a 75-word overview of your work and send it to [email protected] by 14:00 (GMT) on Wednesday 29 October 2025.
