Higher education has been under regulatory and public scrutiny to demonstrate that it can prevent and address sexual harassment and misconduct. For example, since August 2025, English higher education providers have had to abide by the Office for Students Condition E6. Policymakers and leaders in nations like Scotland and Wales, are also collaborating with the sector to find an approach to hold providers accountable for the safety of students. As university professionals face more demands, providers are looking at partnerships to implement efficient, practical and sustainable initiatives.
This event explores collaboration within institutions and with external organisations to support activities that prevent and tackle sexual harassment and misconduct. Partnerships differ from one institution to the next, with providers drawing on different areas of expertise and resources. While some providers opt to involve student unions to support student training and increase awareness during induction week, others are looking to Student Services staff to share their expertise with academic staff to help with consistency and effectiveness.
