Staff CPD training webinar: Supporting students affected by sexual violence

Register for Howden’s staff training webinar, ‘Supporting students affected by sexual violence’, designed for those working with learners across in the education community.

The session has been created in partnership with Health Assured and will be run by Maria-Teresa Daher-Cusack, Clinical Development Consultant and will equip you with the knowledge and practical skills to:

  • Understand the definitions of sexual violence and consent within an educational setting
  • Recognise signs of distress and common barriers to disclosure among students
  • Respond effectively to disclosures using a trauma-informed, student-centred approach
  • Navigate your institution’s reporting duties, safeguarding responsibilities, and referral pathways.
  • Practice supportive communication, set healthy boundaries, and access both internal and external resources.

The training addresses how sexual violence affects students and offers practical ways for staff to provide inclusive, sensitive support including immediate response techniques, common mistakes to avoid, and how to maintain wellbeing for both students and staff.
