AMOSSHE’s response to the OfS statement of expectations
AMOSSHE represents professionals who design, manage and deliver support for disabled students in higher education. Our letter summarises members’ feedback and draws on their expertise and experience of supporting disabled students. Our members have on-the-ground practical and strategic expertise, so our feedback offers an additional perspective that will inform the practical implications of any new regulatory expectation placed on the English higher education sector.
Our letter advocates for a statement that accounts for the current resourcing challenges facing the higher education sector. We offered suggestions to strengthen the statement so that it’s a useful tool for Student Services leaders responsible for disability services.
The Office for Students will consider our letter as part of its wider stakeholder engagement with the sector. We will continue to share our members’ views through our representation on the OfS Disability in higher education advisory panel.
