Date and location

The conference takes place from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 July 2022. Sessions take place during the day in the British Summer Time (BST) time zone.

The conference takes place at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle Stephenson Quarter hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

This is AMOSSHE's first ever hybrid conference, offering blended in-person and online sessions. You have the opportunity to attend in-person in Newcastle (with access to the online sessions as well), or as a virtual delegate (with access to the online sessions only).

If you want to stay at the conference venue hotel on the nights before or after the conference, find the best prices here: Crowne Plaza Newcastle Stephenson Quarter hotel. If you’ve also booked a residential place, please email Anya at info@amosshe.org.uk with your dates, and we’ll make sure you’re in the same hotel room for your entire stay.

Alternative accommodation: if you're not attending as a residential delegate, but you're staying in Newcastle, here are some alternative hotels within ten minutes of the conference venue. You can book a room through this site, and get preferential rates for some hotels: AMOSSHE National Conference 2022 alternative accommodation.

Programme and speakers

Take a look at the full schedule and details about our speakers and sponsors on our event website:

AMOSSHE National Conference 2022

The theme of the conference is Think Differently. With over 40 in-person sessions to choose from, plus seven online virtual sessions, and over 60 speakers, this is our richest conference to date, with plenty of opportunities to think differently about:

  • How our services meet the needs of students, and how we can manage demand and expectations.
  • The way we work as individuals and how our teams work together.
  • Relationships between students, universities and the wider community.
  • Culture and behavioural change.
  • How we can make a difference - what can we do and what do we influence?
  • Innovative ideas that we've undertaken or would like to take forward.
  • Learning from failure - what lessons have we learned from things we tried, but that didn't work out?

The conference is chaired by AMOSSHE Executive Members Claire Slater (Director of Student Life and Wellbeing, University of Bristol), Chris Warrington (Head of Student Support, University of Leeds) and Craig Best (Head of Division, Student and Academic Services, The University of Manchester).

Prices

The cost of the conference depends on whether the delegate is an AMOSSHE named member, or a non-member (other employees of an AMOSSHE member organisation, individuals, not-for-profit and corporate organisations, higher education providers not associated with AMOSSHE). Please make sure you choose the correct rate when you book (members need to log in to see the member rate).

You don’t need to pay VAT for AMOSSHE events. Before you book to attend, please read our booking terms and conditions.

AMOSSHE will make every effort to ensure that you are charged the correct booking rate. However, please note that the onus is on you to provide the correct information and choose the correct rate applicable to you. AMOSSHE welcomes payment online by credit or debit card, or by bank transfer or cheque. If you choose to pay online but then decide to pay by a different method, please email info@amosshe.org.uk for help.
